The article set off a series of events that ultimately led to the cancelation of the TSD Logistics Fuel program at Pilot/Flying J and it is possible that the entire program could eventually be terminated. A wide release of an article landing on the screens of thousands of RVers that cannot participate in the program was not received well. There are far more gasoline-powered RVs on the road. This is a link to the article we wrote that explains How the TSD Fuel Program Works.Īt the end of the day, however, the practice of only giving discounts to Diesel RVers is likely the catalyst that killed the program. TSD is driving down their Fleet operating cost by expanding their fleet to the Diesel-powered RVers. The more fuel a business consumes, the higher their discount levels are. All trucking businesses negotiate discount levels with gas station chains based on volumes they will be purchasing from the chain. Fuel is the biggest cost for trucking businesses. Why? The Fuel Program was developed by TSD Logistics who manages a fleet of over the road trucks (OTR). The TSD Fuel Program ONLY works for Diesel vehicles. The reality of the TSD Fuel Program is that not everyone saves money. Unfortunately the article backfired and resulted in Pilot/Flying J eliminating the TSD fuel discount for RVers. The people at RVTravel thought it would be a good idea to amplify the benefits of the fuel savings program letting everyone know about it. released a story to the Associated Press titled “ This diesel fuel savings program is for real” on January 29, 2020. In case you missed it, here's what happened. If you are not a member, we highly suggest you sign up and start saving while you can. Unfortunately the program has been cancelled by Pilot/Flying J and we are concerned that the program could ultimately end everywhere. The TSD Fuel Saving program has been a lifesaver for many of us driving or pulling our RVs with diesel-powered engines. Pilot/Flying J has cancelled the awesome TSD Fuel Discount program for RVers. I always enjoy learning more about this business, and you are in a unique position to help me understand the leasing side of this with a little more clarity.Sadly our headline is accurate.

I am totally ignorant on this since I am strictly a company driver and always use their fuel purchasing system.Ĭan you elaborate on this a little. Does that make sense? I would think it would have a negative effect on your fuel surcharge, but I assume you have calculated that and still realize a better savings in the end.

I am also wondering if you are able to get a better price by taking the route you have chosen, how does that affect your fuel surcharge. Therefore I would think that would be a requirement of the lease. I suspect most of the company leases make at least a little bit of money through the fuel purchases on the EFS card. I am surprised your lease doesn't require you to use the company's card. Mikey, I am completely unfamiliar with the discount cards, but you've peaked my curiosity.

I can easily save $20-$120 per fillup but would like and even better savings!! I stopped using the company EFS card since I can get a better price at smaller places and independents.
